The Malaysian Family Insurance Scheme Protects the Poor

The government has introduced the Malaysian Family Insurance Scheme to provide social protection to the poor and the hardcore poor in the country, said Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Through the scheme, the Prime Minister said, Heads of Household (KIR) registered in the e-Kasih system will be given insurance coverage with a premium of RM50 per year.

He said the program would benefit about 268,000 poor families at a total cost of RM13.4 million.

"If KIR dies due to ordinary death, the family will get a benefit of RM10,000, permanent disability RM10,000 while those who die due to an accident will receive RM20,000.

"At the same time, BSN's GE-Takaful through the company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) also provides free insurance coverage of RM30,000 for KIRs registered through e-Kasih since 2018," he said when officiating the Malaysian Family Aspirations Tour here today. this.

Also present were the Menteri Besar of Perlis, Datuk Seri Azlan Man; Minister of Rural Development, Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid; Minister of Federal Territories, Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim and Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri described the transition of the endemic phase starting April 1 will make it easier for the public to worship and fast during Ramadan.

He said the move would enable the people to enliven mosques and suraus to perform tarawih prayers in congregation without the need for physical imprisonment.

"To ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Guidelines (GP) are maintained, I launched the Malaysian Family Community Ambassador program with a volunteer concept whose goal is to cultivate self -control among the community during the transition phase to endemic.

"Community Ambassadors will be stationed in high-risk areas that are congested and closed. They will ensure that the information provided to the community is accurate, up-to-date and effective with a gentle, prudent and polite delivery when making remarks," he said.
